Summary
Since Apply Digital was founded in 2016, we’ve approached each new year as an opportunity to grow our company and expand our vision. Whether it’s creating award-winning work for our clients, driving innovation or growing our team and service offering, every turn of the calendar year brings excitement — and 2024 was no exception.
This year, we added 20+ new clients to our roster, and we’re incredibly excited to deliver impact for them in the months and years to come.
We won our first client in Mexico, establishing us in the region and further expanding our footprint in LATAM.
Our team launched a cutting-edge Digital Experience Platform (DXP) for our Kraft Heinz client so they can gain valuable consumer behavior insights, streamline content and product management, and personalize the brand experience.
We also supported the launch of the new NFL mobile app, enabling football fans to catch live local and primetime games from anywhere, along with many other premium features.
As our client work shows, we’re passionate about helping companies deliver world-class digital experiences for their customers. That’s why it was exciting to launch our composable-first accelerator. A way of working and a flexible, pre-built suite of tools and integrations, CAFE is designed to speed up the development of custom composable solutions. Our CAFE partners include Contentful, Contentstack, commercetools, Netlify, and more. The benefits are already coming alive across five accounts, where we are moving from sandbox to live in record time, shortening time-to-value, and achieving ROI.
And a lot of this work was recognized by our peers and community.
Our client Kraft Heinz took home three MACH Impact awards at the annual MACH Alliance conference. The awards — Best Manufacturing (Consumer Goods) Project, Contributor of the Year (Justin Thomas, Head of Digital at Kraft Heinz) and the Grand Prix for Best Digital Experience — were based on our work with Kraft Heinz. We’re humbled to be recognized for our efforts, and to continue our track record of winning MACH awards with our clients.
We also received two BigCommerce awards for Headless Implementation and Delivery excellence, based on the work we did for our clients Brompton Bicycle and White Stuff.
And for the fourth year in a row, Apply Digital was ranked as one of the Top Growing Companies in Canada by the Globe and Mail. We’re very proud to continue to be recognized for our continued growth and accomplishments in the sector.
But these wins couldn’t have happened without strong partnerships.
In 2024, we connected with our partners around the world by attending and speaking at events, including Be Data Smart with commercetools, the SAP House event with Contentful, ContentCon2024 with Contentstack, and others.
We also reaffirmed our commitment to all things composable: we’re proud to share that Apply Digital Chief Technology Officer Dom Selvon was re-elected to the Executive Board of the not-for-profit MACH Alliance, where he will continue to advocate for the value of the next era of business evolution.
These relationships and wins have given us the opportunity to innovate and invest more in creating industry-leading thought leadership.
This year, we produced original research reports that explored how the shift away from third-party tracking data was impacting businesses and consumers, and the challenges organizations faced with customer engagement — with a path forward.
Our research and development team, The Lab, continued to explore the cutting edge of innovation and market-shifting opportunities to drive impact both for our clients and our own teams. Their work this year had a large focus on AI, where they developed conversational agents that can better understand customers, interact with data, and enable more personalized recommendations. The Lab also explored the potential of Augmented Reality across commerce, media, and entertainment applications. Finally, as Apply Digital continues to be an AI-enabled organization, the Lab helped to deploy a wide range of internal AI tools to elevate our own teams.
We’ll continue to augment our technical abilities with emerging tech, even as we emphasize the human touch that is key to excellent customer experiences.
It all comes back to our people.
In 2024, we added award-winning design firm Sisu to Apply Digital, to augment our design capabilities, and expand our footprint on the U.S. West Coast. Sisu’s exceptional work with marquee clients — including Sony, American Express, and the Grammy Awards, among others — made us incredibly grateful and excited to welcome them aboard. The team is already working on multiple accounts to drive impact.
We also expanded by opening a new office in Buenos Aires, and hiring new team members across the company. Just as importantly, very few Apply Digital employees chose to leave: our Chief People Officer Angela Hountalas notes that our retention rate was 94%, which we like to think reflects the industry-leading culture we work hard to create.
Our teams aim to cultivate an atmosphere of consistency, creativity, and a commitment to real impact as we develop the institutional knowledge that stays with clients and fosters long-term relationships. (On that note, if you’d like to find out more about working with us, check out our Careers page.)
Looking ahead to 2025, we’re focused on continuing to grow while staying true to our values.
We’ll continue to evolve how we use cross-disciplinary ways of working as one team to drive impact for clients — and we look forward to welcoming new team members in the months to come. Above all, we’ll continue doing what we do best: working with our clients and partners to deliver exceptional digital experiences.
