Summary

At Apply Digital, we know finding success in your digital change journey involves implementing the right strategy, processes, and technologies that enable you to move faster and more effectively. Composable and MACH (Microservices, API-first, Cloud-native SaaS, Headless) technologies can help you achieve just that.

We also know that the technology and business landscapes are changing. The MACH Alliance’s recently released annual report on what those changes mean for businesses in 2024, and the role MACH will play.

In their report, we see many of the same themes echoed in our work with enterprise clients. In this article, we connected with three of our subject matter experts, who share how you can leverage the learnings from the MACH report to achieve success:

  • Innovate to drive impact

  • Achieve ROI by modernizing IT

  • Get ahead of competitors

Innovate or fall behind

We first spoke to Roberto Carrera, Strategy Architect at Apply Digital, about how businesses can innovate for the greatest impact.

“Businesses are feeling the pressure. From a volatile economy to shifting customer expectations, companies need to ensure they’re keeping up with the times so they can move forward with the right projects.

90% of those surveyed in the 2024 MACH Annual Report agree that organizations who do not innovate will be left behind. Three out of four decision-makers feel it’s more urgent than ever to innovate than in the past five years.

As digital change partners, we know it’s key to consider a client’s holistic needs as they embark on digital transformation.

By leading with strategy, we ensure your business invests in implementing or developing capabilities that will bring efficiencies to your organization, enable new offerings, and improve the customer experience (CX).

Composable and MACH offer the flexibility to introduce components as needed and tailor them to different regions or offerings. This provides the ability to test and learn within a contained blast radius — and facilitates quick cycles of low-risk innovation.

Since starting as a catalog company over one hundred years ago, The Very Group knew they needed to make the shift to a composable platform. We are collaborating closely with them on their digital transformation journey building a roadmap focused on a more flexible tech stack, faster CX changes, elevated product pages, and improved internal processes. The result? 2.2 million website visits a day, and 81% of sales completed on mobile devices.”

Drive ROI by implementing MACH

We also discussed how MACH can drive ROI with Apply Digital’s Chief Technology Officer, Dom Selvon.

“In response to the pressure to innovate, many companies are embracing composability, with 2024 seeing an overall increase in MACH implementation.

By using MACH technologies, businesses can customize software to their organizational goals and needs, rather than compromising with a more rigid tech suite.

MACH enables a faster rollout of updates and services that improve the user experience, including buyer journeys and personalization. And 83% of organizations who do implement MACH see a return on investment (ROI).

When we partnered with international healthcare giant Bupa, we helped them identify the right composable tools for their business and implemented a tech stack that unified their digital presence, enabled faster turnaround times, and leveraged a flexible, scalable backend. This resulted in Bupa being the first company in Chile to offer insurance products solely from an online platform — along with a 13% increase in revenue.

MACH also frees up budgets, allowing you to divert spend to other areas of your business. The annual report found that the more MACH technology a business had, the less they spent on upgrades. And, once implemented, improvements become more incremental and reactive to technology advancements and customer expectations.”

Gain a competitive advantage with MACH

Finally, we met with Andy Wadsworth, Senior Director, Business Development, at Apply Digital, to talk about finding that competitive edge with MACH.

“A survey by TEK Systems found that the top digital experience (DX) goals for businesses included improving CX and engagement. And in an environment where companies are constantly vying for customer attention, it’s no surprise businesses are always looking for ways to beat the competition. But how can organizations achieve that?

87% of organizations state that MACH has been — and continues to be — important in helping their organization meet customer expectations. 49% believe MACH can improve their overall competitive advantage.

Composable tech gives you a leg up in quickly delivering new experiences that your customers are craving.

If you can meet CX expectations faster with MACH, you can beat competitors faster — and better. Apply Digital has supported many clients in achieving a competitive edge. We help assess customer expectations, identify clear goals that align with those needs, and leverage the right tools to drive success.

In our work with Kraft Heinz, we helped create a cutting-edge digital experience platform (DXP) built on composable tech that unifies their brands. In doing so, they gain access to valuable customer behavior insights, achieve streamlined content and product management, and enable personalized brand experiences. This work has led to a 28% increase in customer satisfaction — and the work isn’t over yet.”
